Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione's Jeffrey A. Handelman, a shareholder and chair of the Trademark Group and attorney Christopher A. Harkins, were mentioned in the June 2008 issue of ALA News and on June 24, 2008 in Reuters (online) as being winners of the prestigious 2008 Burton Awards. Mr. Handelman won in the category of Best Law Firm Compendium for his "Guide to TTAB Practice, Vol. 1 & 2." Mr. Harkins won an award for Excellence in Legal Writing for his article titled "Fending Off Paper Patents and Patent Trolls: A Novel 'Cold Fusion' Defense Because Changing Times Demand It." The Burton Awards were presented on June 16, 2008 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. The Burton Foundation is a non-profit academic group that awards excellence in legal writing.
