Jeffrey A. Marx

Practice Summary

Mr. Marx counsels clients and litigates on their behalf in the areas of patent, trademark and copyright law. He has represented domestic and multinational clients in federal courts and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also prepares and prosecutes patent applications and assists clients in the negotiation and preparation of licensing agreements.

Mr. Marx's work has involved a variety of technical areas, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, signal processing, solid-state electronics, and electronic measurement devices. He received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University in 2001 and his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2005.

Representative Matters
Litigation
  • Energizer Holdings, Inc. and Eveready Battery Co., Inc. v. Spectrum Brands, Inc. (W.D. Wis. 2008). Mr. Marx represented plaintiffs Energizer Holdings, Inc. and Eveready Battery Co., Inc. in this patent infringement action relating to primary lithium batteries. The parties promptly settled the case after the court granted Energizer's motion for preliminary injunction.
  • Energy Transportation Group, Inc. v. Sonic Innovations, Inc., et al. (D. Del. 2005-2007). Mr. Marx represented defendants Phonak AG, Phonak, LLC, Unitron Hearing Ltd. and Unitron Hearing, Inc. in this patent infringement action relating to signal processing for hearing aids. The parties settled the case before trial.
  • After Hours Formalwear, Inc. v. Tuxedos, Inc., et al. (N.D. Ill. 2006-2007). Mr. Marx represented defendant Tuxedos, Inc. in this trademark infringement action. The parties promptly settled the case after the court denied After Hours Formalwear's motion for preliminary injunction.
