James P. Naughton
James Naughton is a shareholder with Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione and is chair of the firm's Green Tech Industry Group. Mr. Naughton's practice focuses on intellectual property counseling, portfolio management, prosecution and litigation, with emphasis in patent matters.
He has extensive experience in areas such as vehicle navigation, medical devices, on-line commerce, business methods, computer systems electronic circuits, and renewable energy. Mr. Naughton's services include offensive and defensive analysis of individual patents as well as patent portfolios, management of intellectual property portfolios, competitive analysis, opinions and licensing.

Represented plaintiff in federal court patent infringement action and companion ITC action (In re Certain Wire Electrical Discharge Machining Apparatus And Components Thereof), including two-week ITC hearing. Technology involved electric discharge machine tools. [Represented AGIE in prior related cases, AGIE v. Mitsubishi Electric and Colt Industries v. AGIE]
- Zenith v. AMP. Represented defendant in patent litigation involving computer touch screens.
- London v. Samsonite. Represented plaintiff in Federal Circuit appeal; took over case following loss in the trial court.
